The animated film for all audiences ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ was scored last weekend the third best premiere ever recorded in the United States, during January with a collection of USD 41 million.
According to data published on Monday, February 1, 2016 by the specialized website Box Office Mojo, the DreamWorks Animation film easily reached the first place at the box office with figures only surpassed in January by ‘American Sniper’ last year (USD 89 , 3 million) and ‘Ride Along’ in 2014 (USD 41.5 million).
The original film opened in 2008 with USD 60.2 million, while the second part debuted with USD 47.7 million in 2011.
The plot of the film, which features the voices in its original version of Jack Black, Bryan Cranston, Dustin Hoffman and Angelina Jolie, revolves around the reunion of Po with his father and the journey they will take together to the land of bears panda.
The second place went to ‘The Revenant’, by Mexican Alejandro González Iñárritu, with USD 12.4 million.
Based on real events, tells the story of Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), a renowned explorer who was attacked by a bear and abandoned by his expedition partners, but whose desire for revenge leads him to survive and undertake an odyssey of hundreds of kilometers to find who betrayed him.
The third place was occupied by ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, with USD 10.8 million. The film recovers actors of the first trilogy like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford and introduces into its galactic universe youngsters like Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac, in a plot that happens about 30 years after the story of ‘Return of the Jedi’.
